Keep Fido Warm, an annual program run by Kim Biamonte, will be delivering free straw for outside dog boxes to keep the animals warm in the cold winter months. This year, delivery will be Saturday.

Slovak dinner set at Father Snock Hall

YOUNGSTOWN

The American Slovak Cultural Association of the Mahoning Valley will host its annual Christmas Vilija Dinner at 4 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Father Snock Hall of St. Matthias Church, 2800 Shady Run Road.

Traditional Slovak items will be on the menu: oplatky with honey, bobalky with poppyseed, mushroom soup (macanka), baked fish and peas, and potato pirogi.

Wine or coffee will be served with the dinner, and Slovak and domestic beer, as well as pop will be available for purchase.

The cost is $20 per person. The program begins at 4 and should conclude around 8 p.m. To buy tickets send a check, made payable to ASCA, to Ron Garchar, 6917 Slippery Rock Drive, Canfield OH 44406.

$10,000 grant aids YHSC, Easter Seals

Easter Seals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties and the Youngstown Hearing & Speech Center have received a $10,000 grant from the Kennedy Family Fund of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.

The grant will support the outpatient medical rehabilitation services provided by the organizations.

GFWC/OFWC meet for fall conference

The General Federation of Women’s Club/OFWC Northeast District had its fall conference recently at the Holiday Inn South.

Six junior clubs, one general club and two federated clubs were represented.

The Youngstown Area Federation is celebrating 100 years of GFWC affiliation.
