Robberies reported in city, Liberty

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown and Liberty Township police were converging on the same area on the North Side around 10 p.m. Friday after robberies were committed in both communities.

Youngstown police were helping Liberty police search the Crandall Park area of Youngstown for a man trying to escape on foot after he and another suspect committed an armed robbery in Liberty.

Liberty police took one suspect into custody in Liberty’s robbery, which involved a firearm.

At the same time, Youngstown police were searching for suspects in the robbery of the Dollar General store on Gypsy Lane near Belmont Avenue.

Liberty police were unable to provide any information about its robbery as of 11 p.m. Friday.
