State lawmakers in Pennsylvania will get a 3 percent pay raise starting next week, pushing the annual salary for rank-and-file legislators above $80,000 for the first time.

The automatic cost-of-living adjustment, which is based on the rate of inflation, means legislators will now earn $82,026, up from the current $79,623, according to Thursday’s Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The four legislative caucus leaders will now earn $118,845 per year, up from $115,364.

Raises for top executive branch and judicial positions take effect Jan. 1. The governor’s annual salary will rise to $183,250, from $177,888.
