Woman files 2nd appeal in collar bomb conviction

ERIE, Pa. (AP) — Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong, sentenced to life in prison for a bizarre bank robbery plot in which a pizza delivery driver was killed by a bomb locked around his neck, says she has filed her own appeal for a new trial.

The Erie Times-News reported today that Diehl-Armstrong filed the appeal a week ago even though her court-appointed lawyer had done so Nov. 4, filing his appeal with the 3rd Us. Circuit Court of Appeals. She told the paper her own appeal was done with the help of a fellow inmate who typed it up for her and called it brilliant.

Diehl-Armstrong was convicted last November for her role in the plot that killed Brian Wells when the bomb locked onto his neck exploded on Aug. 28, 2003.
