Students say they were questioned before NC flight

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Students from the United Arab Emirates say they were taken off a flight from Charlotte to Washington and questioned by security.

Three of the students told WJLA-TV in Washington that the group was pulled from a U.S. Airways plane Thursday and questioned, causing a delay of more than four hours.

Some of the members of the group, who were headed to Washington for a conference, say they want an apology.

A U.S. Airways spokeswoman confirmed the flight was delayed because of a security issue but wouldn’t give any further details. Transportation Security Administration officials said they’d issue a statement later today.

Some of the students say they were questioned about their purpose for visiting Washington and whether they had military experience or training.
