POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Nov. 15

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into Three Generations LLC, 3131 Center Road, then stole or damaged water lines as well as electrical panels and wires.

Nov. 17

Criminal mischief: A driveway in the 2300 block of Knollwood Drive sustained damage.

Criminal damaging: Two Pontiac vehicles were damaged at Poland Seminary High School, 3199 Dobbins Road.

Nov. 19

Criminal mischief: A lamp post was knocked over on Ravine Drive, likely by a vehicle.

Nov. 21

Theft: A Van Drive woman reported $5,089 stolen.

BOARDMAN

Nov. 18

Theft: Brittany R. Bachani, 21, of 708 Indianola Road, Boardman, faced charges of theft and complicity to theft as well as possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia after five Sony PlayStation 3 games and four memory cards were stolen from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road. Also charged was 28-year-old Christopher Karis, 457 Eighth St., Struthers.

Theft: The rear license plate was removed from a car in the 7500 block of Market Street.

Misuse of a credit card: A Green Garden Drive woman discovered her debit card had been used to make an unauthorized $118 purchase in India.

Arrest: Cory P. Cochrane, 24, of 359 E. Lucius Ave., Youngstown, was arrested in Grafton, Ohio, on felony warrants from the township charging him with burglary, permitting drug abuse, possession of criminal tools and escape.

Assault: A 16-year-old Boardman boy faced an assault charge after a fight at Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave., in which police said he was seen on a security camera punching another student several times and throwing him to the floor. The boy was released to his mother.

Theft: Four business checks were stolen from Shail Jewelers in Southern Park Mall.

Theft: Jessie R. Vega, 18, of 3205 Calla Road, Poland, was charged with stealing a bottle of pills from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: A city girl, 16, was charged in the theft of two articles of clothing from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.

Theft: Lamont J. Chatman Jr., 19, of 1328 Detroit Ave., Youngstown, and a 15-year-old city boy were charged, accused of taking two boxes of candy from Walmart. The boy was released to the custody of a family member.

Theft: Officers in the 7100 block of Lockwood Boulevard took into custody 25-year-old Marki L. Dailey, 3860 Indian Run Trail, Canfield. She was wanted on a warrant, accused of stealing items from Babies “R” Us, The Baby Super Store, 1240 Doral Drive.

Nov. 19

Theft: A New Castle, Pa., man reported a $249 electronic device stolen while at a Boardman-Poland Road store.

Theft: A man stole three pairs of work pants from Work ‘n’ Gear in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A Gertrude Avenue man reported the theft of his computer’s external hard drive.

Arrest: Dorian A. Brown, 38, of 1442 Humbolt Ave., Youngstown, was arrested on a warrant and cited on a charge of driving under suspension during a traffic stop on Brookwood Road.

Theft: John A. Richardson II, 32, of 6567 E. Garfield Road, Petersburg, was charged with stealing $40 worth of merchandise from Walmart, then faced a felony drug-abuse charge when, police said, two small blue pills were in his coat pocket.

Domestic violence: A 16-year-old township boy faced a charge, accused of throwing a chair at his mother, who confronted the teen about Internet messages he had posted.

Theft: Three polo shirts were taken from Foot Locker in the Southern Park Mall.

Assault: A woman in a truck at a Boardman- Poland Road gas station told police another woman opened the driver’s-side door, then punched the back of the accuser’s head.

Theft: A book bag, textbooks and miscellaneous personal documents were missing from a vehicle in the 7100 block of Tiffany Boulevard.

Identity fraud: A Silver Fox Drive man learned online accounts had been set up with his identification, including one with potentially damaging photographs.

Theft/drugs: Christopher S. Karis, 28, of 457 Eighth St., Struthers, was charged with stealing 12 video games from Sears in the Southern Park Mall, Karis, along with Amber L. Zadunajsky, 24, of 872 Cambridge Ave., Youngstown, also faced two drug-related charges after police said they found two syringes and two metal spoons common to drug use.

Theft: Eric D. McDowell, 44, of 5025 Forest Park Place, Boardman, was charged with four counts of theft and one of receiving stolen property when, police said, he had clothing that had been stolen from at least two Southern Park Mall stores.

Nov. 20

Felonious assault: Police charged 31-year-old Nicholas Flesch, 206 Elm St., Struthers, with felonious assault and possession of drug paraphernalia after a Millcreek Boulevard man alleged Flesch, during a fight at the accuser‘s residence, tossed a folding knife at him. He was not seriously injured, however.

Domestic violence: Tina M. Toth, 21, of 127 Shields Road, Boardman, was picked up in Austintown on a domestic-violence warrant. A man alleged Toth had slammed him against a wall by the throat and struck his face 10 to 15 times during an argument.

Domestic violence: Stephen W. Jones, 22, of 6761 Applewood Blvd., Boardman, was charged with the crime, as well as with disrupting public services, after his mother alleged Jones had slammed her head against a cabinet and pinned her to a wall during an argument. He also tried to take the accuser’s cellphone so she couldn’t call police, a report showed.

Drugs: A traffic stop near U.S. Route 224 resulted in 19-year-old Brandon M. Williams’ arrest on charges of drug abuse and obstructing official business. Williams, of 423 W. Heights Ave., Youngstown, had part of a pill and had provided a false name, age and date of birth, a report said.

Attempted burglary: A woman returned to her Applewood Boulevard home to discover a garage door open, though it appeared no entry had been gained.

Nov. 21

Arrest: Police pulled 22-year-old Teonia I. Gowdy over on Lake Park Road, where they charged her with obstructing official business. Gowdy, of 477 W. Boston Ave., Youngstown, provided a phony name and age, and was wanted on a probation-violation charge, authorities said.

Theft: A man around age 30 stole two boxes of beef snacks from a Shell True North gas station, 5135 Market St.

Theft: A man in his early to mid-50s took a $550 smart phone from AT&T, 650 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Domestic violence: A Boardman boy, 16, was charged with the crime after police said they saw the enraged teen push his mother during an argument.

Fraud: The administrator of a deceased Meadowbrook Avenue woman’s estate told authorities the previous administrator wrote several unauthorized checks against the estate totaling $35,000.

Employee theft: A manager of an East Western Reserve Road fast-food restaurant alleged a worker removed $30 from a cash register.

Vandalism: The manager of a Market Street motel told police a tenant painted eight interior walls and scraped paint from three windows without permission. Damage was estimated at $450.

Harassment: An employee with a Bev Road business reported a man has been making roughly 60 threatening and unwanted calls per day for about a month.

Assault: A Bronx, N.Y., woman alleged her former son-in-law slapped her face during an argument while he worked at a Market Street eatery.

Theft: A woman stole perfume from CVS Pharmacy, 6121 South Ave.
