Historical society schedules open house

The newly formed Historical Society of McDonald will have an open house Saturday after the 6:30 p.m. tree- lighting ceremony. The society has items on display in the former Ague’s Barbershop building next to the post office on Ohio Avenue. McDonald High School student Katie Little designed the logo for the HSM.

‘Wonderettes’ returns for a winter show

West Branch High School’s “The Marvelous Wonderettes,” a charming quartet of 1950s and ’60s singing girlfriends, are back on stage with a sequel show titled “Winter Wonderettes.”

This time, the girls have been hired by Harper’s Hardware Store to provide entertainment for the 1968 employee holiday party. But halfway through the performance the employees (the audience) gets handed some surprising news instead of their normal Christmas bonus checks.

The Wonderettes are played by Morgan Zamarelli, Valerie Wingart, Julia Harris and Leah Stahl. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday; 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday; and 3 p.m. Sunday in the West Branch Middle School Cafetorium. Snacks and beverages will be provided throughout the performance. Tickets are $10 ($8 for students). All seats are reserved and available by calling 330-938-4442 or 330-277-3916.

Stambaugh Chorus at St. Patrick church
