YOUNGSTOWN

Arraignments in the Mahoning County Common Pleas Court this week included a teen charged with murder, another man charged in a separate murder and a third man charged with assaulting the operator of an Austintown adult cabaret.

Rayshawn Marquise Royal, 17, of the South Side, appeared before Magistrate Eugene Fehr of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday morning for arraignment on aggravated-murder and aggravated-robbery charges.

Royal is being held in Mahoning County jail on a $500,000 bond. His case has been assigned to the courtroom of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge Maureen Sweeney.

Warrants were issued in June charging Royal and another teen in the June 18 shooting death of Brandon Adkins, 16, of East Philadelphia Avenue.

Police found Adkins lying in the driveway of a South Avenue house surrounded by a large crowd. The Mahoning County coroner, after an autopsy, said Adkins had been shot in the back and abdomen. He was pronounced dead by paramedics.

Police have said that Adkins was shot by two people with two guns. The shooting took place after a fight earlier that night at a party on Mistletoe Avenue.

Anthony J. White, 29, of Youngstown, also appeared before the magistrate Tuesday for arraignment. He is charged with murder, attempted murder, felonious assault and illegal possession of a firearm in the murder of 29-year-old Teresa Stillwagon and the wounding of another man on the South Side earlier this year.

White’s case also has been assigned to the courtroom of Judge Sweeney.

Police say White was engaged in an argument with another man when he went into a nearby house and emerged with an assault rifle. He reportedly fired into a small crowd, hitting Stillwagon and the other man.

White fled the area after the shooting but was arrested earlier this month in Houston. He is being held in the county jail on a $7 million bond, but attorneys have asked to review that bond amount with Judge Sweeney at a later date.

Keith Slade, 27, of East Dewey Avenue, was arraigned before the magistrate Tuesday on charges of felonious assault and assault. His bond has been set at $5,000.

Slade is charged in the attack on Atty. Sebastian Rucci in downtown Youngstown and punching a police officer.

According to police, Slade walked up to Rucci outside the Thomas D. Lambros Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse on Market Street and punched the attorney in the face several times. Witnesses said Rucci’s face was bloodied from the attack.

Rucci is embroiled in a legal battle involving the Go Go Girls Cabaret, which he owns, in Austintown.

Police caught up with Slade on the Market Street Bridge, and he at first acted as if he would submit to arrest, but he then took a fighting stance against the two officers. One officer tried to place handcuffs on Slade but was punched in the side of the face before Slade was subdued and arrested.
