1930: The British Broadcasting Corp.provides its first time coverage of an American college football game as Harvard defeats Yale, 13-0.

1943: President Franklin D. Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Chinese leader Chiang Kai-shek meet in Cairo to discuss measures to defeat Japan.

1961: Frank Robinson of the Cincinnati Reds is named Most Valuable Player of the National League.

1963: President John F. Kennedy is assassinated during a motorcade in Dallas.

1967: The U.N. Security Council approves Resolution 242, which calls for Israel to withdraw from territories it had captured the previous June, and implicitly calls on adversaries to recognize Israel’s right to exist.

1971: A day-long snow squall dumps 10 inches at the Youngstown Municipal Airport, causing schools to dismiss students at noon and snarling traffic, including a mile-long stretch of I-80 at the state line.

A 20-year-old burglar at the Mount Alverna Friary on Belle Vista Avenue is surprised by Brother Emery Kish and held until police arrive to arrest him.
