Two men are in the Trumbull County jail, charged in the Wednesday theft of six guns from a house on Medley Avenue.

Lucas Beatty, 18, of Market Street, is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond, charged with burglary and six counts of felony theft.

Michael J. Petrilla, 25, of Lincoln Street, Ravenna, is being held in lieu of $75,000 bond, charged with complicity to burglary.

The burglary charges each carry a penalty of up to eight years in prison. The theft charges each carry a penalty of up to five years.

The weapons have not been recovered, the Newton Falls Police Department reported.

School board to meet

The board of education of the West Branch Local School District will meet for a work session at 6 p.m. today followed by the regular meeting at 7 in West Branch High School.

Poland Township trustees will have a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. today at the Poland Township Government Center, 3339 Dobbins Road. They will discuss personnel in executive session with the township attorney. Action may be taken.

Teen suspect sought

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are looking for the teen who robbed a 49-year-old West Side man at gunpoint.

According to reports, the victim parked his car in the 2900 block of Burbank Avenue on Saturday night, then heard someone say “put ’em up” as he got out of the car. The victim turned to see a male, black teenager wearing black pants, a gray hooded sweat shirt and a do-rag over his face, holding two handguns.

The man told police he threw his wallet at the teen, who picked up the wallet and ran off.

School celebration

Students and staff at Boardman Glenwood Middle School celebrated the success of their Salvation Army food drive Monday. Students and staff collected nonperishable foods from Nov. 7 until Friday and surpassed their goal, bringing in more than 3,900 items for donation. As a reward, several teachers received a pie in the face during an assembly Monday.

Food drive ends

St. Charles Church and St. Charles School joined with the St. Vincent de Paul Society for an annual Thanksgiving food collection. Eighth-grade students from St. Charles helped bring the donations Monday to the St. Vincent hall in downtown Youngstown.

The donations are expected to feed between 40 and 50 families. The food drive was from Nov. 10 to Friday.

Thanksgiving service

An interfaith Community Thanksgiving Service is set for 7 p.m. today at Bethel Lutheran Church at 425 Crestview Drive.

This is the first such service in more than a decade and was planned by clergy throughout the township. People of all faiths are invited.

Families report rapes

Two families reported that their daughters, age 12 and 13, were raped Wednesday by two juveniles the girls know.

Police had only begun to investigate the complaint Monday and had no further information to report, police said.
