State confirms drilling permits in the Valley

YOUNGSTOWN

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources today confirmed new drilling permits in the Mahoning Valley.

In Mahoning County, ODNR has permitted Chesapeake Energy Corp. to drill a horizontal well in Goshen Township along Calla Road, on a site that previously received both horizontal and vertical drilling permits.

ODNR also confirmed two permits for CNX Gas Go. in Ellsworth Township along Western Reserve Road between Knauf Road and state Route 45.

In Columbiana County, ODNR revised permits for a West Township location near state Route 30 and Lippincott Road.

To date, the Valley now has 27 drilling permits for potential Utica and Marcellus shale drilling.

One well, in Milton, has been drilled but is not yet producing.
