ELLSWORTH

The Vindicator has learned a Utica Shale drilling well is planned within Ellsworth Township limits.

The proposed site will be along Western Reserve Road between Knauf Road and state Route 45, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

CNX Gas Co. applied for the permit.

The permitting has not yet been completed with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, according to information on its website.

For a Utica well, horizontal and vertical drilling permits are required.

They will be the first drilling permits in Ellsworth.

There have been eight permits for four wells issued in nearby Goshen Township and two permits for one well in Milton Township.

Drilling has begun at the Milton location.
