Homes sales in Valley increase

Home sales increased throughout the Mahoning Valley in October, according to statistics from the Youngstown-Columbiana Association of Realtors, but those homes are selling for less than they did a year ago.

There were 177 homes sold in Mahoning County in October, up significantly from 142 during the same month last year.

In Trumbull County, home sales jumped from 124 in October 2010 to 143 this October; in Columbiana County, sales surged from 47 to 58.

In Mahoning County, the average home price fell from $100,728 to $79,345 this year. In Trumbull, the average declined from $76,589 to $71,206. Columbiana saw the only price hike. The average selling price increased from $81,175 in October 2010 to $83,877 this October.
