The Rev. Cecil Monroe and representatives of the Valley’s funeral homes will make a presentation on “The War on Youth Violence — The Battle for a Violence-Free City” from noon to 1:15 p.m. today at East High School, 474 Bennington Ave.

Hair-a-thon planned

Seniors in the cosmetology program at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center are putting their skills to use as they raise funds with the 13th annual Hair-a-thon from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road.

Students will offer hair, skin and nail services with the funds raised helping to defray costs incurred when taking their state board licensing tests in May.

Services start at $6. All services are performed by senior cosmetology students under the supervision of their instructor. To schedule an appointment, call 330-729-4000, ext. 1309.
