Kent State 28, Eastern Michigan 22

Spencer Keith threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to Tyshon Goode, and then Sidney Saulter’s interception at the goal-line with 1:47 left preserved Kent State’s win. The victory kept the Golden Flashes (5-6, 4-3) in contention for a share of the Mid-American Conference East Division title going into Friday’s game at Temple. Kent State, which has won four straight, trailed 22-20 when Keith connected with Goode for the touchdown and two-point conversion with 6:34 remaining. The Eagles (6-5, 4-3) drove from their own 22 to the Golden Flashes’ 19 before Saulter intercepted Alex Gillett’s pass.

Buffalo 51, Akron 10

BUFFALO, N.Y.

Branden Oliver ran for two touchdowns as Buffalo snapped a four-game losing streak. Oliver rushed for 235 yards and has 1,268 this season, just 65 yards short of the school record with one game remaining. It was the most points scored by Buffalo (3-8, 2-5 Mid-American Conference) in more than 10 seasons. Chazz Anderson passed for 155 yards and two touchdowns, both to Fred Lee, and ran for another score as the Bulls amassed 497 total yards and bolted to a 30-3 halftime lead. Patrick Clarke kicked three field goals for the Bulls. Patrick Nicely threw a 64-yard pass to Marquelo Suel for the Zips’ (1-10, 0-7) only TD.

Temple 42, Army 14

PHILADELPHIA

Temple kept its bowl hopes alive with a 42-14 victory over Army before 25,516 at Lincoln Financial Field. The victory gives the Owls a 7-4 overall record (4-3 MAC) and a modest two-game winning streak, with Kent State remaining on their schedule. Army lost its third consecutive game and fifth of its last six. Bernard Pierce led the Owls with a game-high 157 yards and three TDs.
