POSITIVE FORCE DRILL TEAM

POSITIVE FORCE DRILL TEAM

Roughly 60 junior-high students took part in a four-hour clinic Saturday at Lincoln K-8 School in Warren to learn the basics of drill-team stomping and other moves. The eight goals of the 27-year-old Positive Force Drill Team are:

Encouraging participants to take part in community functions such as youth groups and church.

Providing opportunities to develop interest and pride in their communities.

Offering chances for teenagers to form a positive attitude and self-image, feel successful and achieve goals.

Providing socialization and competition through constructive, supervised recreation.

Identifying at-risk youngsters and offering advocacy and referrals.

Recognizing talent and skill while giving positive reinforcement.

Instilling in youngsters a sense of pride, success and accomplishment.

Providing and enhancing coping techniques such as appropriate communication and problem-solving abilities.
