One-car accident kills New Castle man

NEW CASTLE

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a one-car accident that claimed the life of a 58-year-old New Castle man this weekend.

According to police, Charles Ash, 58, of New Castle was driving a 1998 Audi south on Shaffer Road just before 8 p.m. Saturday when he failed to properly negotiate a curve in the roadway and lost control of the car. The car left the roadway striking a tree on its left side.

Ash was pronounced dead at the scene by Lawrence County Deputy Coroner Richard Johnson.
