Youngstown schools put replacement levy before voters

YOUNGSTOWN

Voters in the city school district will be asked in March to approve a property tax levy for the schools that will raise $3.5 million annually for four years.

The levy, which must be submitted to the county auditor for certification of millage, would replace the 9.4-mill levy that was approved by voters in 2008.

The school board in a special meeting Friday passed a resolution for the tax levy. A second vote is expected at a meeting Tuesday.
