Oct. 23

Arrest: Tina M. Gaida, 42, of 4225 Chester Drive, Boardman, was taken into custody in the 5200 block of Market Street on a misdemeanor warrant charging her with contributing to the unruliness of a child.

Arrest: Police conducting a traffic stop on Market Street took a 17-year-old Youngstown boy into custody on a pick-up order from the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center in Youngstown. The original charge was carrying a concealed weapon.

Arrest: A traffic stop on South Avenue resulted in a charge of operating a vehicle impaired against Irecka Spencer, 19, of 346 Falls Ave., Youngstown.

Theft: Police booked 29-year-old Michael J. Malagisi, 3838 Cumberland Drive, Youngstown, and 35-year-old Kimberly M. Slipski, 16847 Heiser Road, Berlin Center, after eight video games were stolen from Walmart. Both were released on summonses.

Menacing: A man in a check-out line at a Market Street store said a woman behind him threatened to beat him up.

Theft: A Canfield man reported $900 stolen from his room at a Market Street motel.

Counterfeit: Someone used a fake $20 bill at Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave.

Theft: A woman stole $30 worth of groceries from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.

Oct. 24

Possible arson: Police assisted firefighters with a house fire in the 4500 block of Southern Boulevard. The cause of the blaze remained under investigation.

Oct. 28

Theft: Fifteen cosmetics items were stolen from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Robbery: Emmer A. Leflore, 57, of 1442 Victor Ave., Youngstown, faced a robbery charge after clothing was stolen from Babies “R” Us, The Baby Super Store, 1240 Doral Drive. Leflore, who also was wanted on a warrant from Liberty Township, threatened to hit a store employee in the face, police said.

Theft: A man reported an Xbox system and related accessories, as well as a necklace, stolen from his room at a Tiffany Boulevard motel.

Misuse of a credit card: A Washington Boulevard woman discovered her stolen card had been used several times without permission.

Theft: A Tara Drive woman noticed $200 was missing from her bank account.

Misuse of a credit card: A Hitchcock Road man found an unauthorized $1,791 debit had been made to a business’ checking account.

Theft: A man in his 60s stole 10 Halloween decorations and DVDs from Five Below, 411 Boardman-Poland Road, then fled on foot.

Vandalism: An estimated $2,800 in damage was done to gas lines and electrical units to a water tank and a furnace at a building in the 7000 block of Paxton Road.

Theft: Three people stole undergarments from Victoria’s Secret in the Southern Park Mall.

Citation: Police near Market Street cited 52-year-old Robert P. Mallin, 1990 Mathews Road, Poland, on a charge of having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Theft: Jennifer L. James, 21, of 143 Lemans Drive, Boardman, and Angelo D. Martino, 31, of Boardman, were charged with stealing baby items from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Domestic violence: Terrell J. Martin, 31, was arrested at his apartment, 841 Moyer Ave., Boardman, and charged after a woman alleged Martin had body-slammed and choked her during an argument, resulting in a chipped tooth and injuries to her face and arm.

Theft: Poland Township police handed 28-year-old John S. Probst IV to township authorities. Probst, of 2993 Palmarie Drive, Poland, was accused of stealing $60 worth of merchandise from Kmart.

Arrest: A vehicle check on Market Street led to the arrest of Christine M. Nicholson, 43, of 1619 Robbins Ave., Niles, who was wanted on a warrant from that city. She also was cited on a charge of driving under suspension.

Theft: Police took 28-year-old Jason T. Sobnosky, 270 Washington Blvd., Boardman, into custody after learning he was wanted by Liberty Township authorities.

Vandalism: Daniel R. Moerch Jr., 29, of Main Street, Hubbard, faced a felony charge after police said Moerch confessed to having caused more than $3,000 in damage to Splash and Shine Auto Bath, 869 E. Midlothian Blvd., in part by using his pickup truck to forcibly pull a vacuum machine from its base.

Oct. 29

Intimidation: A worker for a Boardman-Poland fast-food restaurant told police she received sexually explicit, intimidating and racist text messages.

Counterfeit: A man in his 30s used a fake $100 bill at Famous Footwear, 387 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A township woman reported the theft of her wallet while at work.

Theft: About $20 was missing from a donation bucket at a Market Street nursing home.

Theft: Someone stole various auto parts from a trade-in vehicle at a Market Street dealership.

Theft: The Ohio State Highway Patrol handed 45-year-old Ronald A. Scurti, 130 S. Osborne Ave., Youngstown, to township police. Scurti, a former employee of Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, 6691 South Ave., was accused of trying to defraud the eatery, in part by giving himself excessive tips.

Theft: Two 14-year-old city boys were charged in the theft of paintballs from Walmart. One of the teens also was charged with possession of criminal tools, accused of using a folding knife to open boxes of merchandise.

Oct. 30

Drugs: Kingsley E. Harris, 51, of 6321 St. Andrews Court, Canfield, faced a misdemeanor drug-abuse count after police stopped his car in the 6100 block of South Avenue and said several Xanex tablets were found. He also was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.

Arrest: Dwight L. Stickler, 50, of 7427 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, faced charges of obstructing official business and disorderly conduct while intoxicated after police responded to a trespassing call near Oregon Trail and said an intoxicated Stickler became belligerent.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s taillights were broken in the 1400 block of Turnberry Drive.

Criminal damaging: Someone drove through and damaged part of a front yard in the 100 block of Clifton Drive.

Criminal damaging: A Paxton Road woman told police that a man, during an argument, kicked and damaged her vehicle’s passenger-side door.

Oct. 31

Theft: Two women stole undergarments from Kmart.

Theft: A woman and a man took deodorant and soap from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: An AM/FM/compact-disc player was removed from a car in the 70 block of Lemans Drive.

Theft: A debit card and 170 tablets were stolen from a vehicle in the 60 block of Lemans Drive.

Burglary: To a residence in the 100 block of Shadyside Drive via a basement window. Taken were two refrigerator shelves.

Arrest: While responding to a suspicious person report on Arlene Avenue, officers charged a 17-year-old township boy with assault on a police officer, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and underage consumption of alcohol after saying the intoxicated teen punched an officer after providing a false date of birth.

Theft: Bonnie S. Newlin, 43, of 359 Jackman St., East Liverpool, was accused in the theft of a car-seat cover from Touchdown Gifts in the Southern Park Mall.

Assault/menacing: Officers responded to a fight in the 8500 block of Southern Boulevard, where one person alleged a neighbor had struck his head and the neighbor said his life was threatened. The argument apparently was about the use of a washing machine.

Theft: Fifteen CDs and four car-stereo speakers were stolen from a vehicle in the 4800 block of Brookwood Road.

Criminal damaging: Jennifer M. Gligor, 22, of 70 Washington Blvd., Boardman, faced a criminal-damaging charge after police said she admitted having intentionally broken a Washington Boulevard man’s vehicle’s taillights. She was released on a summons.

Aggravated menacing: A Melrose Avenue woman told authorities a neighbor pointed a handgun at her as she drove past the residence.

Domestic violence: Police charged 64-year-old Dan Nicoara Sr., 7420 Salinas Trail, Boardman, with two counts of domestic violence. Nicoara was accused of threatening his son with a knife and striking his wife with a glass during an argument.

Attempted theft: Police near Lemans Drive and Brookwood Road found the doors to four vehicles open.

Domestic violence: Jason D. Rummell, 37, who listed addresses in Boardman and North Jackson, faced two domestic-violence charges after his girlfriend alleged Rummell had thrown her against a wall, and after her son alleged Rummell threw him to the ground and placed him in a headlock.

Nov. 3

Domestic violence: A 17-year-old township boy was charged with the crime after his stepfather alleged the teen had shoved him against a wall during an argument, then challenged the accuser to a fight.

Nov. 4

Harassment: A Firnley Avenue man reported receiving numerous such calls pertaining to a woman he doesn’t know.

Theft: Police booked 25-year-old Tara L. Boyce, 948 Winona Drive, Youngstown, after $31 worth of merchandise was stolen from Walmart. She was released on a summons.

Employee theft: A charge was pending against a former worker with the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall after $115 worth of shirts, sunglasses and other merchandise had been stolen from the store during a one-month period.

Assaults: Four women were in a fight in the 400 block of Boardman-Poland Road, though none sustained visible injuries.

Attempted vehicular assault: A security guard with a Tiffany Boulevard store told authorities he believed the driver of a sport utility vehicle intentionally tried to hit him after the accuser had asked the driver to move from a fire lane.

Theft: A man stole $150 worth of clothing from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive, before leading police on a vehicular pursuit.

Attempted burglary: The homeowner of a residence in the 300 block of West Midlothian Boulevard reported seeing someone fleeing from the rear of the home, though no entry was made.

Theft: Ebony M. Wells, 33, of 182 Elm St., Struthers, was picked up on a warrant after being accused of stealing 15 cosmetics items from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Nov. 5

Menacing: James A. Ashworth, 38, of 3798 Indian Run Drive, Canfield, was cited on a menacing charge after police responded to two intoxicated men at a Boardman-Canfield Road restaurant. Ashworth threatened to harm an employee who had asked him to leave, a report showed.

Arrest: Solangel M. Rodriguez, 19, of 164 Lincoln Park Drive, Youngstown, was charged with obstructing official business after being accused of providing false personal information to police during a traffic stop in the 800 block of East Midlothian Boulevard.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: Youngstown police handed 42-year-old James P. Greene to township authorities. Greene, of 685 Cook Ave., Boardman, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a first-degree misdemeanor, after his former wife alleged Greene had failed to return her 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier.

Theft: Amy L. Jones, 30, of 12845 Beaver-Springfield Road, New Springfield, was charged in the theft of perfume and a purse from Walmart, then released on a summons.

Vandalism: A $325 coffee table was damaged in a room at a South Avenue motel.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 100 block of Danbury Drive was found with a smashed rear window and to have been ransacked.

Theft: A man in the 300 block of Boardman-Poland Road reported a leaf blower, a weed trimmer and other landscaping equipment had been taken from his truck.

Theft: A woman discovered numerous pieces of jewelry missing from her home in the 5000 block of Firnley Avenue, for a loss of more than $6,000.

Theft: A leaf blower and a cut-off saw were stolen from a truck in the 7100 block of Tiffany Boulevard.

Arrest: Police arrested Michael A. Forney Jr., 32, of 241 Mumford Drive, Youngstown, in the 300 block of Boardman-Poland Road on a felony warrant from Austintown charging him with passing bad checks.

Nov. 6

Drugs: Police responded to a possible drunken driver on U.S. Route 224 before charging 52-year-old Frank R. Silvestri, 66 Green Bay Drive, Boardman, with drug abuse and citing him on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired. A bag with seven pills was in his pocket, a report said.

Criminal damaging: A fence was damaged in the 7400 block of Ranier Trail.

Vandalism: A vehicle in the 1400 block of Boardman-Canfield Road was found with a slashed tire and damage to a door.

Theft: Two cars at a Simon Road business had their catalytic converters removed.

Theft: Two people stole 10 DVDs from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Trespassing: Authorities charged 66-year-old John R. Washabaugh, 7712 Tod Ave., Boardman, with criminal trespassing after saying a belligerent Washabaugh refused to leave St. Elizabeth Health Center’s Boardman Campus after having been treated and offered a ride.

Assault: A Hitchcock Road man said a neighbor punched him several times in the face and kicked him during a dispute.

Theft: A man and a woman stole a cellphone, miscellaneous clothing and two rings from the J.C. Penney store.

Theft: While answering a domestic-dispute call on Cook Avenue, police took into custody 25-year-old Stephen W. Bell, 868 Cook, who was wanted by Columbiana County authorities on a theft count.
