Needle’s Eye selects executive director

Minister Dennis Griffin was selected as executive director of The Needle’s Eye, a Christian counseling center at 74 W. Kenmore Ave. He has served as acting director for the past year.

The board of trustees of Southside Ministries made the appointment Oct. 18.

Griffin began volunteering 30 years ago at Needle’s Eye under the direction of its founder, the late Erma Davis. He led a men’s Bible study. He also served on the board of trustees of Southside Ministries as vice president.

Griffiin is a graduate of South High School and attended ITT Technical College, Penn Ohio Junior College and Youngstown State University. He served in the Army and in the National Guard, retiring after 35 years of service with the rank of first sergeant.

He attended Moody Bible College, American Baptist College and Southern Bible Institute. He is a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church, where he is an associate minister.

Griffiin and his wife, the former Gwendolyn Arnold, have two children and seven grandchildren.
