Drugs found in shooting victim’s apartment

Police found a “substantial amount” of drugs Thursday inside A shooting victim’s apartment, Police Chief Richard Tisone said this morning.

“It’s safe to say this was not a random shooting,” Tisone said.

He said Rodney Clark, 41 of 4063 Madison Road, suffered a grazing wound to his abdomen before being rushed to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

They planned to call Clark in for questioning later today.

Upon arriving at the Monticello Apartments last night, police found Clark lying in the grass in front of his apartment.

Tisone said because the small slot of glass in the apartment’s front door was smashed, police entered the apartment in case the shooter was still inside.

There was no one else inside, but police found marijuana, cocaine and another firearm, the chief said. Tisone said it was not the firearm used in the shooting.

He could not say how many units of drugs were found in the apartment, but the drugs were sent off to be processed.

Police are still investigating.
