Ballet Western Reserve presents holiday classic

Under the direction of newly appointed Artistic Director, Virginia Hartman, nearly 100 of Ballet Western Reserve students will take to the stage Dec. 3 for this full length performance of The Nutcracker.
Along with the traditional Sugar Plum Fairy and the flurry of the Snowflakes, Hartman has taken a new approach to some of the roles in her production of The Nutcracker. With ballroom dancing receiving much attention in several popular television series, Hartman immediately thought of collaborating with the dancers of Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Boardman.
Dancing the Spanish Variation will be professional ballroom dancers, and regional champions, Travis Manero and Kristen Dobson.
Another professional team from Fred Astaire, Brandon Barker and Chelsea Charie, will dance Arabian. Justin Jones and Kristen Dobson will lead several ballroom dancers from Fred Astaire as they bring true ballroom dancing to the festivities of the first act Party Scene in The Nutcracker.
The Nutcracker ballet will be performed on Dec. 3 at Powers Auditorium at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
