ALF players play in league all-star game

Several Austintown Little Falcons players competed as part the Mahoning County all-star team in the annual NEOYFL Pro Bowl Nov. 6 at Fitch Falcon Stadium.

The ALF players, along with those from the Patriots, Redmen and Crusaders made up the Mahoning County squad. They faced the Trumbull County/Pa. team, consisting of players from the Warren Raiders, Panthers, Labrae Vikings and Farrell Titans.

ALF players AJ Bedock, Daniel Fetty, Ryan Gordon, Lance Hall, Logan Pugh, Anthony Sandy, Joseph Serensky, Tod Simons and Cameron Smith helped the Mahoning 100-pounders beat Trumbull/Pa. 20-0.

Austintown’s Andrew Bretsik, Nicholas Dominic, Nicholas Hall, Daniel Ifft, Logan Italliano, Melvin Neail, Kyree North, Bryce Revis, Eric Shipsky competed on the Mahoning County 120-pound team that topped Trumbull 26-0.

In the 140-pound Pro Bowl, the Trumbull team beat Mahoning 28-14. The Little Falcons were represented by Milton Buchner, Kerron Devoe, Michael Ferree, Nate Fowler, Nathan Gasser, Ezra Lazar, Antonio Page, Tyler Petry and Randy Smith.

Pirates winter caravan due in Youngstown Dec. 14

The Pittsburgh Pirates’ Winter Caravan will visit Youngstown on Dec. 14 as part of scheduled visits to 16 different communities in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.

During the three days of Caravan visits, current and former Pirates players, coaches and representatives will meet with fans and the media.

Those expected are manager Clint Hurdle, players Andrew McCutchen, Joel Hanrahan, Kevin Correia, Jose Tabata, Jeff Karstens, James McDonald, Daniel McCutchen, Alex Presley, Brad Lincoln and Michael McKenry and coaches Jeff Banister, Nick Leyva, Luis Silverio and Ray Searage.
