A Hickory Township police officer struck a pedestrian who was walking in the middle of state Route 108, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Albert Leroy Boughter of Independence Lane in New Castle was walking in the road at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday when he was struck by a cruiser driven by Officer Michael J. Vitale.

Boughter was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was listed in fair condition there Wednesday.

State police are still investigating the accident.

‘Stomping’ clinic

WARREN

The Positive Force Drill Team has teamed up with the Warren Police Athletic League to offer a clinic to introduce Warren junior-high students (sixth through eighth grade) to the basics of drill-team “stomping.”

The clinic will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lincoln K-8 school, 2253 Atlantic St. NE, to teach students basic drill-team procedures, calls, movements and history of stomping.

Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays Youngstown-area chapter presents Kimberly Beck and Robert Dubec, licensed professional counselors from Specialty Care Counseling Services in Warren, to speak on gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender concerns and relationships at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mahoning Valley Pride Center, 1523 Poland Ave. The talk is free.

PFLAG provides support to LGBT people and their loved ones, education in the schools and community and advocacy for equal rights.

Holiday toy drive

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown YMCA will host a holiday toy drive from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Covelli Centre lobby.

Donors will receive one free ticket voucher to any available performance of “Disney On Ice presents Mickie & Minnie’s Magical Journey” next month at Covelli Centre. There will be a limit of 300 ticket vouchers available and a limit of two vouchers per family.

“Mickey & Minnie’s Magical Journey” will be at Covelli Centre Dec. 15-18. The voucher offer is for the donor’s choice of performances (based on availability).

Tickets for the show are available at the Covelli box office, Ticketmaster, and by calling 800-745-3000. Show times are 7 p.m. Dec. 15 and Dec. 16; 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 17; and 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Dec. 18.
