Police probe death of Leavittsburg man

Staff report

WARREN

A 32-year-old Leavittsburg man found face-down on the street, unconscious and barely breathing, has died.

Curtis J. Cutlip of Nelson Mosier Road was taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital at 4:20 p.m. Sunday from where he was found at Scott Street and Vine Avenue Northeast.

A Warren police report said a Vine Street resident looked out his window and saw a group of females standing around Cutlip, so he called 911.

One of the women said she saw a black male with a goatee kicking Cutlip in the head while he was on the ground. The man then left in a vehicle variously described as a white truck and as a tan Ford Explorer.

At TMH, Cutlip regained consciousness and refused to talk to police about what happened but said he was sick. He had no visible signs of injury, police said.

In 1999, while living on Parkman Road Northwest in Warren, Cutlip was sentenced to four years in prison for attempting to discharge a firearm into a habitation.
