Pa. state police investigating accident involving Lawrence Co. cop


NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A Hickory Township police officer struck a pedestrian who was walking in the middle of State Route 108, Pennsylvanian State Police said.

Albert Leroy Boughter of Independence Lane in New Castle was walking in the road at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday when he was struck by a cruiser driven by Officer Michael J. Vitale.

Boughter was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was listed in fair condition there today.

State police are still investigating the accident.
