Pa. robber takes 'bread' when he can't get bread

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh police say a man took “bread” — also known as $74 — from a Subway restaurant after he got angry because the shop didn’t have the kind of bread he wanted for his sandwich.

Police say nobody was hurt by the robber who was still at large today.

Police tell WTAE-TV the man entered the shop in the city’s Point Breeze neighborhood about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. After ordering a sandwich, police say the man gave an employee a hard time because he couldn’t get a specific kind of bread.

When the man went to pay for his sandwich, he instead demanded that the worker give him all the money in the drawer. Police say the man reached into his sweat shirt as though he had a weapon, though no gun was produced.
