Pa. man jailed with dad after denied lockup visit
SOMERSET, Pa.
Police say a southwestern Pennsylvania man is in a county jail with his father after police say he drunkenly threatened to fight officials who refused to let him visit his father at the lockup.
Online court records don’t list an attorney for 24-year-old Charles Meinhart Jr., of Confluence, who was arrested Sunday after authorities say he cursed, used obscene gestures and threatened to fight Somerset County Jail officials.
Police tell the Daily American of Somerset that Meinhart tried to slip his handcuffed hands from behind his back and kicked at police who opened the back door of a police cruiser door.
Severed bison head discovered in Boulder yard
BOULDER, Colo.
Police in Boulder, Colo., are investigating how a severed bison head ended up on a decorative rock in someone’s front yard.
The Denver Post reports that police quickly ruled out one obvious potential source for a bison head in Boulder: the beloved buffalo mascot named Ralphie at the University of Colorado.
Boulder police spokeswoman Kim Kobel says a check on Ralphie shortly after the head was discovered Sunday morning showed he is OK.
Neighbors weren’t able to provide police with additional information.
They didn’t know why someone would leave a severed head at the home.
Kobel says the case is being investigated as an animal-cruelty case.
Investigators are reaching out to local ranchers and processing plants to find the source of the head.
