Project Khalid will celebrate the 100th anniversary of “The Book of Khalid” by Arab-American novelist Ameen Rihani.

The Arab American Cultural and Education Center will host a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Arab American Community Center, 15 Belgrade Ave.

The anniversary offers the opportunity to raise Rihani’s cultural profile and communicate his message of dialogue and unity between East and West. It will feature a presentation by Todd Fine, director of Project Khalid.

Rihani was born in 1876 in Lebanon and died in 1940.

Rihani’s book, published in 1911, tells a tale of two Arab boys who immigrate to New York City and explores the ideal relations between Americans and Arabs.
