Appeals judge to seek re-election

Judge Mary Jane Trapp will run for re-election to a second six-year term as judge of the Warren-based 11th District Court of Appeals in 2012.

The court serves Ashtabula, Lake, Geauga, Portage and Trumbull counties.

Judge Trapp was elected to the appellate bench in 2006 and served as the court’s administrative judge in 2008 and presiding and administrative judge in 2009 and 2010. She has written more than 400 decisions.

She is chairwoman of the Appellate Rules Subcommittee of the Supreme Court’s Commission on Rules of Practice and Procedure.

Judge Trapp, a resident of Russell Township in Lake County, graduated cum laude from Mount Holyoke College in 1978 and received her law degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1981.

She spent more than 25 years in a general civil- and criminal- trial and appellate practice in Ohio and Pennsylvania before taking the bench. She is a past president of the Ohio State Bar Association.
