Museum to host Civil War seminar
Staff report
EAST LIVERPOOL
The Museum of Ceramics, Fifth Street, will host a Civil War seminar Dec. 3 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War.
William Vodrey, a Cleveland magistrate, former area resident and Civil War speaker, will give a presentation at 12:30 p.m. on “Dennison, Tod & Brough: Ohio’s Civil War Governors.”
Tim Brookes, area attorney, Civil War speaker, and president of the East Liverpool Historical Society, will speak at 1:50 p.m. on “East Liverpool Goes To War.”
Both sessions will conclude with questions and answers.
At 1:30 p.m., museum volunteers will provide a refreshment break.
Reservations are recommended due to the small size of the theater. Call 1-800-600-7180 or 330-386-6001.
“Collectors’ Choice: American History” coincides with the seminar.
All who bring a piece of East Liverpool-area ceramic ware with some connection to American history will have the chance to show, to share, and perhaps learn even more. The museum staff will photograph each person’s item, then create a free greeting card of the photograph that can be picked up at the museum in two weeks.
The Civil War seminar is free with the cost of admission ($4 adults, $2 students) to the museum.
