Poland officer gets state trooper gets award

SOUTHINGTON — Capt. James J. Holt, district commander of the Warren district of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, presented Poland Officer Gerald Velasquez with the highway patrol’s Certificate of Recognition at a ceremony today at the Poland Township government center.

The certificate will recognize Velasquez for assisting Trooper Eric Brown of the Canfield OSP post in the arrest of a fleeing suspect. Velasquez was off duty at the time.
