Warren Junior Masters finals today


The finals of the 25th Warren Junior Masters Bowling Tournament will be today at 1 p.m. at Niles McKinley Lanes, where eight boys and eight girls compete for over $600 in scholarship money.

Three blocks of five games were bowled at Crest Lanes, Echo Lanes and Freeway Lanes on November 4-6 to determine today’s finalists. Now, the top eight girls and the top eight boys are set for head-to-head competition.

A ninth bowler is an alternate.

During qualifying in the girls’ division, Brittany Ferrara led with a 3172 total pinfall (211 average for 15 games). Ferrara had the high five-game block of 1110 and Marissa Simon had high game of 259.

Qualifying involved 14 girls.

In the boys’ division, which featured 16 bowlers, John Richards Jr. with 3417 pinfall (227 average for 15 games). Richards had the high five-game block of 1206 and Zach Thompson had high game of 279.

This year’s tournament also included a Junior Gold regular event.

Also, a paid entry to the Junior Gold Nationals in Indianapolis was available. This year, Ferrara won the entry to the Junior Gold Nationals.

Following Ferrara’s 3172, scores of other Junior Gold-eligible bowlers were: Marissa Simon (3101), Zach Thompson (2937), Tom Harcarik (2785) and Morgan Alden (2601).

Average needed to make the finals was 186 for boys and 173.40 for girls.
