60th anniversary of Kanas gathers family at party

YOUNGSTOWN

Steve and Betty Kana of Youngstown were honored at a 60th wedding anniversary celebration Oct. 29 at Lucianno’s Restaurant in Austintown.

Hosting the dinner party were their children, Eileen Ellsworth of Youngstown, Tom Kana of Youngstown, and Jeannie and Joe Serrecchio of Austintown. The couple also have seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Kana and the former Betty Lampe were married Oct. 27, 1951, at St. Joseph Church in Youngstown.

Mrs. Kana, who is now a homemaker, was inducted into the YWBA Hall of Fame in 2003 and was the YWBA Secretary of the Year in 2005.

Mr. Kana, who retired from General Motors in 1992, spent two years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, serving in the Korean War.

The couple are members of Holy Name Church in Youngstown.
