Saturday’s big east Conference games
Pittsburgh 21, Louisville 14
LOUISVILLE, KY.
Tino Sunseri threw for one touchdown and ran for another to lead Pittsburgh to its first road win under new coach Todd Graham, ending the Cardinals’ three-game winning streak. Pittsburgh (5-5, 3-2 Big East) had been slumping with three losses in its previous four games, but ran over Louisville’s stout defense, starting off with a 12-play, 80-yard scoring drive capped by freshman Isaac Bennett’s 1-yard TD run. Sunseri found Mike Shanahan for a 17-yard score on Pittsburgh’s first drive of the second half and ran in for a 5-yard touchdown with 1:53 left as the Panthers continued their success against Louisville (5-5, 3-2).
West Virginia 24, No. 23 Cincinnati 21
CINCINNATI
Geno Smith threw for 372 yards and led a fourth-quarter touchdown drive that rallied West Virginia over Cincinnati — which lost both quarterback Zach Collaros and control of the Big East race. Eain Smith blocked Tony Miliano’s attempt for a tying 31-yard field goal as time ran out, giving the Mountaineers (7-3, 3-2) a win they needed to stay in contention. The Bearcats (7-2, 3-1) lost Collaros to a lower-leg injury in the second quarter, and he watched the rest of the game on crutches from the sideline with his right foot and ankle heavily wrapped. Untested sophomore quarterback Munchie Legaux got the 48,152 fans at Paul Brown Stadium chanting his first name when he led the Bearcats to a pair of touchdowns for a 21-17 lead early in the fourth quarter. Legaux ran 7 yards for a score, and Isaiah Pead went 10 yards for his second touchdown. Smith directed a 10-play drive that culminated in Shawne Alston’s 1-yard run for the go-ahead score with 8:52 left.
Rutgers 27, Army 12
