Author will give stress-relief talk

Julia Fuhrman Davis, a North Lima author, will visit the Leetonia Public Library from 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 6 to teach techniques on making the holidays less stressful. She also will read relevant excerpts from her recently published book, “Waking Up and Changing My Life!”

Slovak preservation to highlight event

Local authors Suzanne Summers and Loretta Ekoniak will discuss their new book, “Slovaks of the Greater Mahoning Valley,” at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kravitz Delicatessen, 3135 Belmont Ave.

The presentation will be sponsored by the Ethnic Heritage Society, and the authors will sign books, which will be for sale.

The presentation will highlight the history of the area’s Slovak community from the 19th century to the 1960s.

Summers, a Campbell resident, says she was inspired by her work with the Arms Family Museum of Local History and the Campbell Historical Society. Ekoniak, a Youngstown native, has long promoted the preservation of Slovak culture and serves as president of the American Slovak Cultural Association of the Mahoning Valley.

‘Ticked Off’ author will sign books
