POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty, Girard and Hubbard:

LIBERTY

Nov. 3

Arrest: Township police arrested 54-year-old Emmer A. LeFlore, 1490 Rosewood Lane, Youngstown, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant accusing her of failing to appear for a violation-of-probation hearing.

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue resulted in the arrest of 26-year-old David A. Perna, 149 E. Eighth St., Sharon, Pa., who was wanted on a warrant and cited on a seat-belt violation.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 500 block of Gypsy Lane. A 42-inch TV and a cable box were missing.

Nov. 4

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a home in the 400 block of East Montrose Street by unknown means before removing copper piping.

Arrest: Niles police handed 19-year-old Zachary E. Edwards to township authorities. Edwards, of 2118 Robbins Ave., Niles, was accused of failing to appear for a pretrial hearing pertaining to a theft charge.

Counterfeit: A man unknowingly passed a phony $20 bill at Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave., and was not charged with any wrongdoing.

Drugs: Police responded to a dispute at a Motor Inn Drive motel, then issued a summons to a Youngstown man, 22, after saying they found two devices common to marijuana use.

Arrest: Ashley N. Croff, 28, of 424 Kenilworth Ave., Warren, was taken into custody near Interstate 80 and state Route 11. Croff was wanted on a warrant from Geauga County.

Arrest: Jimmy R. Torres, 25, of 345 Ferndale Ave., Youngstown, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail on a township warrant.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a Belmont Avenue doctor’s office through a rear window and took a computer and monitor.

Nov. 5

Theft: A Roosevelt Drive woman accused a friend of stealing more than $300 from her purse.

Nov. 6

Theft: A man and a woman left Denny’s Restaurant, 4020 Belmont Ave., without paying their $23 food bill.

Stolen property: Authorities responding to a report of stolen scrap metal later apprehended 45-year-old Richard A. Rhodes, 3434 Hadley Ave., Liberty, who was wanted by Weathersfield Township police on a felony charge of receiving stolen property. He also was charged with leading officers on a foot chase.

Theft: A Michigan Avenue woman found out someone had used her stolen debit card to make two unauthorized debits totaling $503.

Arrest: Columbiana County authorities held 32-year-old Matthew J. Crowl, 36048 state Route 30, Lisbon, who was wanted on a township warrant.

Nov. 7

Arrest: Police near state Route 193 took into custody 41-year-old John Jarome, 978 W. LaClede Ave., Youngstown. He was accused of failing to appear in court on charges of obstructing official business as well as possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Theft: A Fairlawn Avenue man told police he never received a computer he had ordered, despite its having been delivered to his residence.

Nov. 8

Theft: A woman discovered her wallet stolen while at a Belmont Avenue store.

Theft: A Savanna, Ill., man noticed his wallet missing from his room at a Belmont Avenue motel.

GIRARD

Nov. 4

Theft: A Tod Avenue woman checking her account online discovered an unauthorized $42 charge.

Menacing: A Stull Avenue woman reported getting about 57 text messages, including some threatening harm to her or challenging the accuser to a fight.

Nov. 5

Menacing: A Plymouth Avenue woman said two males yelled derogatory comments at the accuser and her mother.

Theft/criminal mischief: The owner of a North State Street business reported the theft of eight newspapers, and that someone had dumped a pile of cat litter near the entrance.

Nov. 6

Vandalism: Police found a burned vehicle near a set of railroad tracks after having responded to a report of a possible car fire.

Menacing: A Joan Avenue woman reported a caller threatened to kill her.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into Brine Pharmacy, 906 N. State St. A surveillance camera showed a man examining several shelves of medications before leaving through a rear door.

Assault: A charge was pending against a man after a patron of a Market Street restaurant said he had been punched during a fight.

Criminal damaging: A 7-foot section of a fence was knocked down in the 30 block of Church Hill Road.

Nov. 8

Theft/damage: An East Howard Street man reported his wallet stolen from his van, which had a broken passenger-side window.

Menacing: An East Prospect Street woman said a man threatened to kill her.

Criminal mischief: Someone in the 100 block of East Liberty Street struck a vehicle with an egg.

Burglary: A Dearborn Avenue man reported three to five males entered and ransacked his residence, forced him to the basement and stole $5,000 to $6,000.

HUBBARD

Nov. 1

Arrest: Police arrested Edward Humphreys, 350 Parkview Ave., Hubbard, on a charge of failure to appear in court.

Nov. 3

Theft: Reported in the 6000 block of Rachellen Drive.

Nov. 6

Arrest: Billy B. Whitlow III, 2615 Drummond Ave., Hubbard, was taken into custody on a warrant from the township.

Nov. 7

Harassment: A Youngstown-Hubbard Road resident reported having been a victim.
