1918: Fighting in World War I comes to an end with the signing of an armistice between the Allies and Germany.
1921: The remains of an unidentified American service member are interred in the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery in a ceremony presided over by President Warren G. Harding.

1986: Austintown Township parks will be open for part of the winter following voter approval of the .8-mill parks levy.
About 150 employees walk off the job in a labor dispute at the Weatherbee Coats Inc. plant at 461 E. Federal Street. Joseph Hardy, Weatherbee chairman, says he was surprised by the walkout.
1971: The Joseph Horne Co., a major Pittsburgh department store, will open a branch in a 130,000 square foot addition at Southern Park Mall.
1961: Two white-hooded bandits armed with a submachine gun and sawed-off shotgun terrorize 10 employees and customers at the First State Bank in North Lima and escape with $20,000.
Some 300 members of the Italian-American War Veterans and its auxiliary honor National Commander Albert Masi of Campbell and the national auxiliary president, Mrs. Rose Rossi of Struthers, at a testimonial dinner at Hotel Pick-Ohio.
1936: A truck driver and manager of a the Valley Coal & Coke Co. are fined $25 by Squire Joe Repasky of Campbell after pleading guilty to delivering and selling coal at short weight. The Better Business Bureau and Chamber of Commerce investigated.
