To celebrate Halloween, the uniforms usually worn at St. Charles School were retired for a morning, replaced instead with cartoon characters, ghoulish figures and bright colors.

On Oct. 31, family members of St. Charles students gathered in the school’s cafeteria and gym to see grades K-5 stream through for a Halloween parade.

The younger grades then headed back to their classrooms for room parties organized by teachers and parent volunteers.

In Patty Bartholomew’s kindergarten classroom, the party was a mix of fun and learning. Bartholomew’s students decorated cookies, created crafts, played math card games and competed in a ring toss during their celebration.

Bartholomew also completed a Halloween prayer with her students, asking for safety in all trick-or-treating and celebrations with family.

Over in Barb Ealy’s kindergarten classroom, her students created a “monster mash” treat, which had ice cream, marshmallows and chocolate chips. Ealy even offered up herself during the mummy wrap contest, where her students thoroughly rolled her up in toilet paper.

To entertain the older students at St. Charles, the school also hosted a dance in the church Social Hall, where grades 6-8 enjoyed music and games.
