Library elevator out of service

Those visiting the Poland library for the next few weeks will have to take the stairs.

The elevator that takes patrons from the lower level entrance off the parking lot to the library floor and back, is in need of repair and is expected to be out of service until late November.

The elevator is especially important to handicapped patrons and those with various special needs. The library hopes to minimize impact on such patrons by providing important information to the public. Repairs may not be complete until late November because key parts are not readily available. Parts may take several weeks to arrive. Once the parts arrive, repair work will be scheduled as soon as possible.

There are several options available to those with special needs who would like to use the Poland library. Such patrons should avoid parking in the library’s parking lot, where the entrance is on the lower level, or first floor, if they are visiting the branch to use library resources located on the street level, or second floor.

Those wanting to use library resources can enter the building through the front entrance on the street level. Several parking spaces are available on South Main Street in front of Poland library for handicapped or special needs patrons only and for library vehicle use.

Patrons coming to the library to attend a meeting or to patronize Kravitz Deli or the Friends of PLYMC Bookstore, can park in the library lot and use the entrance to the lower level, or first floor, where these services are located.

The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County is comprised of 16 locations. Patrons are reminded that in lieu of using Poland library while the elevator is unavailable, they can visit nearby branches, the closest being Struthers, Springfield and Boardman libraries. A complete list of library locations is available on the library’s website at www.libraryvisit.org.
