The Knights of Columbus, Poland Council No. 4471 presented senior Kathleen McCaregher from Good News Ministries with a check for $1,200 on Oct. 17. The money will benefit the Good News Ministries in the work they do preparing developmentally-disabled from the Diocese of Youngstown to receive their Sacraments.
The donation comes from the council’s Measure-Up Campaign, which takes place every spring. These funds are donated by Poland area businesses and also collected by the Knights at local parishes and at Sam’s Club on South Avenue.
In addition to the grant given to Good News Ministries, the Knights also presented a check for $1,200 to Boy Scouts Troop No. 3. This Scout Troop, based in the Mahoning Valley, is the only groop dealing with Scouts who are developmentally disabled.
The Knights wish these two organizations continued success in the work they do. The Knights would also like to thank all who donated to the Measure-Up Campaign, without which these two grants would not have been possible.
