The Poland Junior Women’s Club has supported the community since 1980 by focusing on family-friendly civic projects by lending its time and resources.
“Throughout the year, we’re proud to be involved in hosting a community Easter egg hunt, volunteering at the Christmas tree lighting and anonymously adopting local families during major holidays to provide them with food and gifts for the celebration,” explained event chair Michele Bernard. “This year, we’re welcoming our Halloween Carnival for its third year and always looking for ways to offer fun to Poland families.”
The club offered fright-free entertainment on Oct. 29 for local kids from preschool to second grade in the cafeteria at Poland McKinley Elementary.
Poland Seminary High School students from Leadership Club offered guidance during a beanbag toss, Halloween ornament craft, pin the nose on the pumpkin task and hot potato game where the “potato” was actually a witches broom.
Families were invited to enjoy doughnuts and cider and place bids on auction baskets that raised money for the club. Along with games and food, club president Melissa Poland led the costumed children in a parade around the facility to show off their ensembles.
As families exited, kids earned a small bag of treats to add to their candy haul.
