Boardman sophomore Mark Hadley concluded one of the most impressive seasons in the history of the school’s cross country program with a fifth-place finish at the state meet last Saturday in Hebron.

Hadley’s time of 15:31 is one second behind Tim Power’s all-time best mark of 15:30 and was a personal best for the young runner. Hadley also finished as the top sophomore in all divisions at the state championship.

“The kid is just amazing,” said Boardman head coach John Phillips. “What he has accomplished this season is truly remarkable and his performance at state was one of the best races I have ever seen.”

Besides being an all-state runner, Hadley was selected Academic All-Ohio for his 4.0 GPA.

“He truly defines what being a student-athlete is all about,” said Phillips.
