Angels for Animals hosted its annual Wine Taste to toast the holiday season Nov. 5 at Andrews Hall. As one of the shelter’s signature events, it featured a variety of appetizers, chocolate treats and live entertainment by John Ruman.

The tasting featured 18 wines, including Chocovine Expresso, Domino Moscato, Gnarly Head Authentic Red and Santos Red Sangria.

Attendees were provided with a list of wines which included a description of each.

According to Diane Less, Angels for Animals founder, this was the seventh year for the event.

“The reputation of our Wine Taste has grown each year and we get more people attending every year. We usually get between 150 and 200 supporters,” Less said.

Tom DeGenova has served as coordinator of the event and also as head chef each year.

The wines were also available for purchase by the bottle, with a discount given on cases. All proceeds from the wine tasting will benefit the general operation of the Angels for Animals shelter.

The shelter was open during the event, affording attendees the opportunity to visit the many adoptable animals.

The event also featured a Chinese auction, a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle.

“I would like to thank the community for their support. We are really making a difference at Angels for Animals because of the support of the community,” Less said.
