Stand by for test today

YOUNGSTOWN

A 30-second nationwide test of the emergency alert system will be broadcast at 2 p.m. today on U.S. radio and TV stations. The system is often tested locally, but the nationwide test will help evaluate and improve the system, should it ever be needed nationally, the EMA said. Today’s test will be conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Communications Commission and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Cleanup in Campbell

CAMPBELL

The Campbell Pride Project has rescheduled its cleanup date to Saturday.

Anyone interested in joining the group for the cleanup should meet at 9 a.m. at the municipal building, 351 Tenney Ave. The group will continue to pull weeds, mow and pick up trash along Wilson Avenue and Coitsville Road.

The next neighborhood block-watch meeting is at 6 p.m. Thursday at the community center in Roosevelt Park.

Alzheimer’s forum

An Alzheimer’s-disease research presentation, hosted by the Alzheimer Network, is at 7 p.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive. The speaker, Lori Macedonia, clinic coordinator at the Alzheimer Disease Research Center of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, will present an update on advancements and trends.

Two monetary donations to support research will be made at the close of the program. Call the Alzheimer Network at 330-788-9755 for a reservation.
