Girard police still searching for owner of torched car
GIRARD
Police have failed to find the last-known owner of a burned-out Dodge Durango they discovered Sunday night.
The license plate from the vehicle was registered to Jessica Verrill, and the registration matched the Vehicle Identification Number of the vehicle, police said.
After receiving a call about a car fire, police found the vehicle completely burned along railroad tracks behind north Girard’s long vacant Ohio Leatherworks factory on U.S. Route 422.
There was no body inside, said Girard police Capt. John Norman, who’s in charge of the investigation.
Since Monday, Niles and Girard police have worked together to try to locate Verrill.
According to Niles police, her last known address was in Niles in an apartment on the 200 block of Emmet Street.
