Trial postponed

Trial postponed

YOUNGSTOWN

Judge Lou A. D’Apolito of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court will postpone the murder trial of Reginald Everson to a firm date 30 to 45 days from now.

The judge also will appoint a new lawyer for Everson, while Everson decides whether to have the new lawyer represent him or to represent himself and use that lawyer as “shadow counsel.”

On Monday, the judge granted Everson’s request to terminate Atty. Paul Conn as his defense counsel because of “a breakdown in communications” between Everson and Conn.

Everson, 25, of West Chalmers Avenue, is charged in the 2008 fatal shooting of Terrell L. Roland, 18, of East Avondale Avenue. Roland was shot twice in his driveway and died shortly thereafter in St. Elizabeth Health Center.
