The township’s newly renovated part-time fire station will be open to the public Sunday afternoon.
Austintown Fire Chief Andy Frost Jr. said from noon to 4 p.m. visitors can stop by the station on South Raccoon Road for food, drinks and a tour of the facility.
In 2009, the department secured a $333,000 grant through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to update the station, which was 50 years old and in serious disrepair.
The station reopened in September, after six months of construction.
Frost said a ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 1 p.m., and firefighters will hand out free smoke detectors.
