Most Mahoning issues approved

It was mostly a good night for issues on the Mahoning County ballot — except for Canfield schools.

Austintown’s 0.5-mill senior levy, Western Reserve schools’ 3.9-mill levy, Boardman’s 3-mill renewal and the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities all passed.

Canfield voters rejected the schools’ 4.9-mill levy. It failed after the district limited busing, implemented pay-to-participate and cut staff. Those actions followed voters twice turning down a 6.8-mill operating levy.

Austintown’s senior-services levy will fund that township’s Senior Center on Westchester Drive.
