YOUNGSTOWN
A man died in a blaze on the city’s South Side on Monday night. His name and age were not available at press time.
Battalion Chief Terrence Jordon said the fire started at 6:55 p.m. in the rear of a Pine Hollow Drive home and spread into the second story. Firefighters were able to pull the man from the house, and an ambulance took him to a hospital.
The fire is under investigation. Property damage is estimated at about $15,000, Jordon said.
Probe continues
CORTLAND
The city police department has executed search warrants for phone records and continues to investigate the reported abduction of a 16-year-old girl from her apartment Oct. 24.
Police have not made any arrests and hopes to know more in about two weeks, when they expect to have the phone records, said Tom Andrews, acting chief.
The girl said a man 20 to 30 years old came to her apartment and forced her at gunpoint to get into his car. The girl said she escaped from his car twice, the second time getting free from him.

The well-child immunization clinic scheduled for Wednesday in the Girard Health Department, City Building, 100 W. Main St., has been canceled and rescheduled for Nov. 16 at 1:30 p.m. A $10 administrative fee is charged per child. Parents are reminded to bring a copy of their child’s immunization record. A parent or guardian must accompany children under 18. Call the Health Department Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 330-545-6048 to schedule an appointment.
